The Stomping Land

Intro

The Stomping Land is a multiplayer dinosaur survival game. I would say its worth your money since i've already had a blast within the first few hours. Its not like Rust or Dayz where everyone you meet is probably planning to kill you if they haven't already. If you meet people 75% of the time i've found they are friendly. You can communicate with other players by typing in the server chat or tribe chat (I'll get into tribes later). Overall a great community. Note that the game is in alpha and many future updates will be coming

Crafting

Crafting in The Stomping Land isn't like any other games i've played. You start off with an axe, which you always have and cannot loose. With that axe you can chop trees and rocks. After 4 swings you will get a wood log or stone. With that you can left click to place on the ground. Once you drop your second piece of material in the same place a small box will appear. This holds up to 20 pieces of materials. Depending on how many materials you stack up you will be able to craft different weapons, shelter, fire pits, and totems. Just note that once you make something it uses all the material, so if you have extras they won't be saved.

Weapons

       key: w (wood) s (stone)

There are 5 weapons currently in the game. Your axe, bow, spear, shield, and bolas. First is the bow. This weapon requires 5w and 2s. You have 10 arrows that come with the bow when made, you can make another set of 10 with 2w. Each dinosaur takes 2 shots from the bow. Note that there is no cross or dot in the middle when aiming. This makes hunting, tracking, and accuracy much more realistic than other games. Next is the spear. Think of this weapon as an upgrade of your axe. It only takes one quick stab through the body and kills one hit, as your axe takes 4 swings. It requires 5w and 2s. After that is the shield. The shield is not very common and not made by most people. It requires 4w and 2s. Its suppose to block attacks and give concussions to some dinosaurs that ram you, but it glitches allowing them to go right through you and not protect you. Note that this game is in alpha and still improving. Finally we have the bolas. These weapons are probably my favorite because you can rope people's legs and drag them around with your rope and even suffocate them in the water. They require 2w and 1s. You get a set of 3 and can craft more with 2w. If you have another player around you can have some fun and he can build a cage around him while you have him tied up.

Setting up a camp

There are 2 different things you want at your base. A teepee and a fire-pit. The teepee will allow you to re-spawn at it when you die, so you might want to put it by a cave. The fire-pit allows you to cook meat. Each dinosaur that you kill will provide 2 pieces of meat, some small, some large.

Tribes

When you build a totem for 8w 5s you start a tribe. You can't change the name yet but when people ask to join and you (as the leader) accept their name pops above their head.

Whats next?

My next post will be about the different dinosaurs, how to tame them, and future dinosaurs.
